Remove or reposition optional accessories one at a time. Check the seat, backband, thigh braces, foot pedals, fishing mounts, camera arms, and other equipment attached to the deck or cockpit. Look for anything that forces you to lean or twist.

Don’t immediately add padding to compensate. Extra padding can improve comfort, but it may also make the kayak less stable or lock your hips into an uneven position. Make small changes, then test the result in calm conditions.

Inspect the hull before assuming it’s defective

Once you have ruled out conditions, load placement, steering, posture, technique, and outfitting, inspect the hull. Look for obvious damage such as a deep dent, crack, deformation, loose hardware, or a component that has shifted from its original position.

A small cosmetic mark isn't automatically a performance problem. Avoid heating, reshaping, drilling, or making structural repairs unless you know the material and the appropriate repair method.
